Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
GigVite Inc. (“GigVite,” “we,” “us”) is a booking, staffing, and payments platform for working musicians, bandleaders, venues, and the fans who support them. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the GigVite mobile app, gigvite.com, and the public pages musicians publish through GigVite.
Our role
GigVite is a platform. Mostly we process personal information for our own purposes — operating the Service, managing accounts, settling payments, providing support, and complying with law. In some features we also process information on behalf of our users: for example, when a fan submits a song request or tip, we handle the fan’s name and number so the artist can respond, and when a bandleader manages a lineup or sends a contract, we process the recipient’s details on the bandleader’s behalf. Artists, bandleaders, and venues are independently responsible for how they use information about the people they work with.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account basics: your name, username, phone number, and optionally an email address, stage name, bio, photos, city/state/ZIP, instruments, and genres.
- Gig and booking details: gigs you create or join, lineups, rates, set times, venues, contracts you send or sign, and messages exchanged through the app.
- Content you upload: profile and page photos, press-kit media, song demos and recordings (using your microphone, with your permission), and receipt photos for expenses (using your camera, with your permission).
- Payment setup: payments on GigVite are processed by Stripe. Card numbers, bank account numbers, and the identity details used for payout onboarding (such as SSN) are collected directly by Stripe and never stored on GigVite’s servers. We store references Stripe gives us (such as account and transaction IDs), amounts, and payment status.
- Fan interactions: if you tip an artist or request a song as a fan, we collect the name and phone number you provide so the artist can respond, plus your tip amount.
Information collected automatically
- Location: with your permission, your device location or the home base you enter is used to match you with nearby gigs and open calls. You can use GigVite without granting device location.
- Device and usage data: basic logs (IP address, device type, app version, pages viewed, errors) used for security, rate limiting, and fixing problems, and a push notification token if you enable notifications.
Where information comes from
- Directly from you (account setup, profiles, bookings, uploads, support).
- From other users, as the product works (a bandleader adding you to a lineup, a venue booking your band, a fan submitting a request).
- Automatically from your device (logs, device type, approximate IP location).
- From service providers acting for us (for example, Stripe payment status).
Sensitive personal information
We do not seek sensitive personal information. The limited sensitive data involved in using GigVite — sign-in credentials and the identity details Stripe collects for payout onboarding — is used only to provide the Service, prevent fraud, and comply with law, and never to infer characteristics about you or for advertising.
Cookies, local storage, and analytics
We use only essential cookies and device storage: a sign-in token that keeps you logged in and settings like your theme or last-used filters. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or behavioral remarketing, and we do not share data with ad networks. Usage measurement is limited to our own servers’ logs and in-app metrics (for example, showing an artist how many people viewed their page). Because we do not track you across other websites, there is no cross-site tracking for a browser’s “Do Not Track” signal to turn off. The same goes for the Global Privacy Control (GPC): because we do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, there is no sale or sharing for a GPC signal to opt out of; where a state law treats GPC as a binding opt-out, we honor it.
Text messages (SMS)
GigVite signs you in with a one-time code sent by text message, and sends transactional texts you initiate or that relate to your account and gigs (for example, sign-in codes, gig invitations, contract signing links, and replies to song requests). By providing your phone number you consent to receive these messages. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out of non-essential texts and HELP for help; opting out of sign-in codes will prevent phone sign-in. We do not send marketing texts without separate consent, and we never sell your phone number. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties for their marketing purposes.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
How we use information
- Run the service: book gigs, staff lineups, settle payments, and pool tips.
- Verify your phone number and keep your account secure.
- Send the transactional texts and push notifications described above.
- Generate content you ask for (for example, drafting your press kit bio).
- Prevent fraud and abuse, comply with law, and meet tax reporting obligations.
- Improve the product using aggregate, de-identified usage information.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With other users, as the product works: your profile is visible to people you work with; gig details are visible to the lineup and the hiring venue; your public artist page is visible to anyone with its link.
- With service providers who process it for us under contract: Stripe (payments, payouts, identity verification, and tax forms), Twilio (text messages and phone verification), our hosting and database providers, Expo (push notifications), and OpenAI (only the profile text you ask us to draft from, when you use AI drafting features).
- For legal reasons: to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect GigVite and our users.
- In a business transfer: if GigVite is acquired or merged, your information may transfer with the business under this policy.
Payment information and tax reporting
Stripe acts as our payment processor and, for musicians receiving payouts, provides regulated money movement under its own terms and privacy policy. Where required by law, Stripe prepares tax forms (such as 1099s) for people who receive payments through GigVite, which involves Stripe collecting taxpayer information directly from you.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can view and edit your profile information in the app at any time.
- Deletion: you can delete your account in the app (Profile → Account → Delete account). Deletion removes your personal information from your profile; records required for completed payments, signed contracts, and tax compliance are retained as required by law.
- Permissions: camera, microphone, photos, location, and contacts permissions are optional and controlled in your device settings.
California and other U.S. state privacy rights
If you live in California or another state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you and receive a copy of it (including a portable copy), to delete it, to correct it, to withdraw consent for processing based on consent, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months — so there is no “sale” or targeted-advertising “sharing” to opt out of. To exercise any right, email info@gigvite.com from the email on your account or from the app; we will verify your identity (for example, by confirming your sign-in phone number) and respond within the time the law requires. You may use an authorized agent with proof of authorization.
Appeals: if we deny a privacy request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing info@gigvite.com with the subject “Privacy Request Appeal”; we will review and respond within the time applicable law requires. Shine the Light: under California Civil Code §1798.83, California residents may request a list of third parties to whom we disclosed personal information for their direct marketing purposes in the prior year — for GigVite that list is empty, because we make no such disclosures.
Marketing communications
We currently send transactional messages, not marketing campaigns. If we ever send marketing emails or texts, they will require your consent where the law demands it, every marketing email will include an unsubscribe link, and replying STOP ends marketing texts. Opting out of marketing never stops transactional messages about your account, gigs, or payments.
Where your information is processed
GigVite is operated from the United States and your information is stored and processed on servers in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information is transferred to and processed in the U.S. If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and the right to complain to your data protection authority); contact us to exercise them.
Links to other sites and services
Artist pages and press kits on GigVite can link to third-party sites (for example, Spotify, Instagram, or a venue’s website). Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. This policy covers only GigVite.
Data retention and security
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed for the purposes above. Financial records are kept as long as tax and payments law requires. We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege database policies, and we never store full card or bank numbers. No internet transmission is guaranteed to be 100% secure; if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
Children
GigVite is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Receiving payouts through GigVite requires being old enough to enter a contract and satisfy Stripe’s onboarding requirements.
Changes
If we materially change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date above, and for significant changes we will notify you in the app.
